Winston Smith endures a squalid existence in totalitarian Oceania under the constant surveillance of Big Brother. But his life takes a horrifying turn when he begins a forbidden love affair and commits the crime of independent thought. Sent to the chillingly labelled "Ministry of Love", he is placed at the mercy of O'Brien (Burton), a coolly treacherous leader determined to control his thoughts and crush his soul...

  • Is it saying sex crime? at beginning?

  • Does anyone else feel that this movie can be remade today?

  • Best Pro SOPA/PIPA ad ever

  • @GambitFox79 That book was not going to be read. The book that was going to be read was 1984 where Orwell deliberatly missled us us all allowing the liberals and the left full reign to develope their tyranny while keeping up a Trotskyite hate campaign against the right framing them as fascist or nazi. His choice of hero could not have been a mistake as Orwell knew darn well who controlled the worlds monetary system; the Rothschilds. No, I am convinced that 1984 was commissioned by MI5.

  • @americaisbacktrump Orwell made it pretty clear in "Homage to Catalonia" that tyranny could come from both conservative and liberal forces. Have you read it? He basically spelled out that his Socialist vision could be corrupted into tyranny. Corruption came from people who desperately wanted socialism, but were too eager to give their power to a government that promised to lead the revolution for them.

Respectfully, your comment lacks the logic necessary to make it a fact. i

  • @americaisbacktrump erm I have no idea what you are talking about...

but Orwell fought in the Spanish civil war on the side of the Republicans. As a socialist, he was forced to leave by (supposedly allied) Soviet hostility. This made him a lifelong opponent of Stalinism. Thus, Nineteen Eighty-Four and Animal Farm portray betrayed revolutions, where the underlying principles of equality, justice and freedom have been forgotten.

  • George Orwell was a fraud. He was an MI5 agent deputised to write up the planned coming tyranny but to throw people off the scent by saying that it would come from the right and not the liberals and the left from where it is now coming. He hid the fact that the Rothschild family (current estimated fortune 37 trillion) were to lead the NWO by making the hero of the book Jewish. We were all taken in and now we face international tyranny in a sleepwalking state.

  • The background music is really absurd considering the overall plot of 1984....

  • @ichmalealsobinich Who did it come true for? Certainly not for Americans. If you think so, then you have NO IDEA of what total control really means

  • Man with Geordie accent: Day one thousand, nine hundred an' eighty four in the Big Brother House and Winston has been sent to the Diary Room 101 aftere gettin caught doin it to Julia...

    : )
