I never thought I'd beat 1:58 for this mission. "Sargent" (aka "Heisou" at Mitoro's website) has held a record of 1:56 for some time now. Here's a link to Mitoro's score chart for this mission:

I managed to tie Sargent's record after "yellow26" passed on some helpful hints (based on Sargent's strategy) in the AC5 forum at gamespot.com. So, here's the video!

To unlock the Falken:

The Falken can be unlocked at any difficulty level. Destroy the 5 Falken hangars located in Missions 12a, 12b, 16a, 16b and 27. The hangar in 12a ("Powder Keg") is not easy to find: head north to the river intersection, then follow the river east until the hangar appears on your radar map. When you destroy each Falken hangar, you'll hear radio chatter, "mechanical parts discovered", later in the mission. At the end of the mission, you'll also get a message on the debriefing screen. Other than that, there's no way to tell which hangars you still need to get. The one in 12a might be the only one you need, so go for that one first. Once the Falken is unlocked, you can buy it. Sell your other planes to get enough cash if necessary. You probably need to continue playing until you have enough cash ("Sea of Chaos" is good for this).

To unlock Falken SP Paint:

Use "Free Missions" to complete each mission at Expert difficulty (or if you prefer, you can finish a campaign at Expert difficulty). Make sure that you OWN a Falken first! I'm not sure what'll happen if you don't. Generally, you can sell planes without worrying about losing your paints. When you re-buy the plane, you'll get back whatever paints you had when you sold it.

@WinVisten So yeah a plane with a laser. The enemy has TWO giant subs that launches nukes, giant spaceships with an oversize laser, 8492nd squadron, THOUSANDS OF SHITTY PLANES ATTACKING YOU, and a fucking falling attack satellite!

And your saying the ADF-01F Falken is for cheaters and noobs? First you have to find FOUR hangers spread though out the story, then get ungodly amount of credits to buy every wing-men a Falken! Son, you failed to realize the bigger problem
