Jan Hendin and Lorraine LeFevre have some speculation about where they originate from. It has been said that they are from either Britian or the U.S or Canada.
What is known is that both where extremely talented and deserved much more exposure than what was given. Their only album, titled 'Gypsy People'(with this song on it having the same name) was far from the mainstream route of its day when released in 1969. It was recorded in the IBC Studios in London but was relesed in the United States and Canada.
Their songs varies as each one sound different than the other, and their voices and harmonizing are top notch. The album included music performers such as Clem Cattini, Keshav Sathe, Brian Odgers, and Terry Cox.
Jan and Lorraine mix up a hybrid of acid folk, psych, and world music on the album.

  • gypsies are originally from india, see wikipedia..., in india they still don't stay at one place , they keep on moving with thier livestock..

  • @BohemianAsh may be but i read on net that gypsy people trace their origins to the Indian Subcontinent. so i guess they were/are hindu.

  • @dx2y - Lol, no. I think pictures of India are used in this video because this song draws inspiration from Eastern mysticism

  • are gypsy people hindu ?

  • why don't you allow embedding?

  • One of the greatest psychedelic/hippie songs i've ever heard! Very much thx for posting!:)

  • Love it. I bought this album 2nd hand when I was, what? 17 or so, lost it in the mists of time. I have been trying to track it down on and off for years. I've just been singing the song, what's the title? "if I, had my life to live over, I wouldn't want to be anyone else but me...", all day, it being Spring an'all. A must find. Wish I still had the vinyl as it had a lovely gate-fold sleeve. Ah! the heady acid drenched days of my youth....
