My autistic son Justin inspired me to write this song a few years ago. When Bart Herbison, the Executive Director of the Nashville Songwriters Association heard the song, he was so moved by it that he immediately made arrangements to have it recorded by a group of the finest studio musicians in Nashville.

The poignant lyrics of Blessing in Disguise may serve to educate the public regarding some of the common traits of individuals with autism, and at the same time offer comfort to parents of autistic children, as it speaks of a silver lining in an otherwise difficult-to-face reality. Bart and I both strongly believe that if a well known recording artist such as Stephen Stills or Vince Gill were to record the song, it could be used to launch a huge autism awareness campaign and associated fundraisers. A nationally broadcast music-based fundraiser could easily be the single largest fundraising event ever accomplished for autism charities.
