In the month of December, I did an art challenge with my friend Mary Helena and a few other artists. I think she and I were the only ones who ended up sticking with it the entire month. It was a huge commitment, but well worth it in the end.

During the process I found out that I have the beginnings of glaucoma. When you see the eyeballs hanging on the hand, that is the day after I went to the eye doctor. I thought it was really interesting how I was drawing beings with blacked out eyes a few days before I found out. I go to a specialist on Jan. 3rd and I will know more about my situation then.

There were days when I just did not have the time for a full fledged drawing, so there are a few doodles and scribble days thrown in, which I am not happy about. It takes me a lot of time to make a really good drawing. I am a slow drawer. I think this has been a very good exercise for practice. I may continue with it in January, however, I think I am going to put a time limit on myself that I can't go over (unless I want to) because I am taking Mitsi's art class now too and I want to concentrate on that and my Blue Woman Series.

Thanks for watching!

  • @PuppyZwolle Thank you. I hope so, i think so. I am praying so. I'm going to try to keep going with it. Man! It's so tough somedays. If I can just stick to a time schedule, I'd be fine but I draw slow, so it takes me a long time to get a drawing complete. I think out of the entire 30 days, I only completed one. All the rest you see, are incomplete.

  • @momapes Awww, thanks Mo. I am hoping for the best. Like I said, I see the specialist on the 3rd. I will know more then. Thank you.

  • @PuppyZwolle I can't seem to get the video. Can you pm it to me please?

  • Check out this video by a person I admire very much. She really knows the power of art. I bet you like how she handles what life is throwing at her.

  • Man that is some heavy stuff. You sure put your heart on the paper. And then I read about your eyes. It awful when your eyes go specially when you are a visually orientated artist.

I know you as a spiritual shamanic person so I want to suggest you do this for the next year. Get a dummy book and make a drawing every day as a kind of visual diary. You already started the journey, it makes sense you would continue until your eyes are well again.

    They will be well again.

  • Great stuff, Kim. I'm so sorry to hear you have glaucoma. That's the pits. Let me know if I can do ANYTHING! I loved watching your daily drawings- keep up the good work. You will enjoy Mitsi's class.
