Of the 22 states John McCain held for the Republicans in Election 2008, Ga., Mo., and Montana (which you did not list) saw the female vote carried by Barack Obama.
It's important given that the GOP usually wins males and the Democrats win females (a sizable margin will see the victor of whichever party win both genders in the U.S. popular vote; Obama won males by one point).
S.C. saw 18-29 and 30-44 support Obama in the mid-50s%. The 45-64 and 65+ groups kept the state red.
