Whangarei Speedway Accident

This accident happened at Whangarei Speedway on the 2nd February 2008 during the Northland Speedway Champs.
The liquid spilling from the vehicle is fuel (not water), this egnited engulfing both the driver and his B Grade saloon.
The actions of the infield staff and those who ran into help, need to be commended for their actions that kept this driver alive.
Note for other drivers; we must all remember that we are resposible for our own safety checks once the car has past scrutineering.
Racing was cancelled after this serious accident.
Driver: Erik, substain serious burns - the recovery process has been a slow one despite of the injuries he received
