  • You are absolutely correct. The practice and concept of Hara did come from China. The thing is is as with so many ideas or practices the Japanese then really took it on board and polished and mastered it. The concept has also been adopted into Shintoism in the sense that it has become totally embedded into the very fabric of Japan and the Japanese.

  • I have been trying to find info on this technique for years now. thank you for re-introducing me to the term. It would be great to see some protestors grounding themselves like this as a bonus to show what real human strength is.

  • Ideology of Hara is rooted in zen buddhism and taoism (dantian). Zen came to Japan from China. So, I think culture of Hara in Japan also was imported from China?

What about Hara say shinto believers and shinto shamans? Can they also like buddhists practice zazen meditation?

  • The Japanese are great. Can't wait to gt the book.

  • wow, deep. do you have more in the works?

  • Brilliant! Thank you so much for sharing...
