Here is my first attempt on how to make your own face armature by using oil based clay. I thought of this method long ago I just didn't have the time to test it out. Now that I have tested it out I thought I might make a tutorial video for it so that you guys can also make your own.

  • I would say you can use urethane rubber and then pour plaster into it so you have no plaster bandages sticking to it and it is long lasting.

That is what I do. :)

  • @givenupsasuke Well thats a good idea but the whole point of the oil based clay armature is to ensure a cheap homemade armature without the expensive materials like silicone, urethane, as well plaster. The aim in this tutorial is affordable and simplicity. Not complexity.

  • can i put plaster bandages on my face and mould my face instead?

  • @Seedot0001 Oh yes absolutely! The only reason why i molded the full head armature is because its the average size of a human head. My head is below average so i wouldnt want to make my half masks smaller than the average size especially if someone ends up buying that mask.

  • You may want to change up the board to have sides on it just like walls in a mold so that the clay will not seep over if you don't want a mess. Good tutorial juan. But you forgot to point out not to use oil based ON oil based. Unless of course you really cake on the vaseline. But otherwise it will stick. Also why wouldn't you have made it in plaster? XD You could have made a Silicone/latex mold, and then filled it with plaster, pulled it out, placed it on the board, and poured more plaster

  • @Psyc0Productions already have since its just oilbased clay and plaster bandages instead of using ultra cal and silicone. Five, your getting in my fucking nerves since yesterday.

  • well done

  • thats cool! never thought of doing that for face masks, i just use a bored and sculpt building up, so my face mask sculpts are all done with solid clay, no core inside. really cool man! I'll have to give this a try on my next sculpt.
