And the real final boss of Aqua's story is...Ventus!? No wait, Vanitas!? Both!? Either way, I'm calling him "Ventas" (Venitas sounds too close to Vanitas). Despite it essentially being another Vanitas fight, this one is still really awesome. He gains new moves, and is fun to fight, I actually had a good amount of fun no damaging this one.

*Overview*

Anyway, this fight can be pretty tough. He doesn't leave you with many chances to attack just like Vanitas, and he hits pretty hard as well. Fortunately due to his playstyle being so close to Vanitas', you should have the general idea of how to fight. Only this is without the Status Effects you could abuse in the last two fights vs Vanitas. Well timed Seeker Mines and Triple Firaga are great here, though.

*Strategy*

The moves that "Ventas" keeps from Vanitas are:

1. His Dark Lighting attack.
2. His two hit combo with a projectile at the end. The projectile will very annoyingly loop around you until it hits either you or Mickey. So be careful.
3. The dive into the ground where he will follow you and jump out at you 1-3 times (or maybe always 3 in this, I forget).
4. His teleport counter attack. Remember to not lock into combos!

The rest of his moves are completely new and only seen in this fight. "Ventas" makes full use of the X-Blade.

1. His first new attack is actually extremely ridiculous. You CANNOT react to it, it's impossible, you need to predict it. The hitbox frames come out immediately. It's the move where he dashes at you Keyblade first and zips around you a few times. This is a really weird move to dodge. I haven't tested this move out too much to be honest, but I think you can just Guard it. But standing there spamming Guard puts you at risk of being hit by Dark Lightning. Your best bet is to predict it with Cartwheel.

The hitboxes on this move are weird as hell. I can't say for sure, but I'm PRETTY sure the whole move isn't a giant constant hitbox, or Cartwheeling would probably never work. However, you have to spam it HARD. It may seem like you'll get hit, but from what I was testing, I don't think I ever got hit spamming Cartwheel hard as possible. Only the first hit can catch you off guard easily. It might seem like you're getting hit at some points, like for example we all know the issue with KH2/KH2FM where you can dodge a move and still have Sora's face flinch. In this game, it's similar except instead of flinching you'll hear a hit sound but not get hit. So don't worry, it means you still dodged it.

2. His last new move is his ultimate attack. He will teleport to the center and taunt you a little while he charges up. He's free to get hit hard by anything during this part. Some people prefer Shotlocks for max damage, but doing a Seeker Mine up close or Triple Firaga is fine as well. Just be careful of being shifted into a Command Style, that removes the Mines immediately.

After he charges, he jumps up and lands down with a giant explosion attack. I'm not entirely sure how this move works, but the only way to dodge it other than Shotlocks is to just Cartwheel spam and hope you don't get hit. You might way to Cartwheel a little bit out of the way of the explosion path, but it shouldn't matter that much. My success rate was probably 9/10 times just using Cartwheel.

That's about it for this fight. You really have to be careful of that #1 move, you should have a general idea of when "Ventas" will attack you by now, so you just have to be prepared to Cartwheel it. He won't use it more than once every couple moves, so if he uses it you don't have to worry about it for a couple moves.

  • Bizkit can you give us a general idea of how long it takes to make some no damage CM videos?

  • @suddenndeath9 It varies a lot. A couple of them I did in one shot, most up to 5 tries, and some 10-20.

  • So....the relationship between Aqua and Ven confuses me a bit. Is he like a brother to her? Did she raise him?

  • @dannywolfpero Think of it like Sora/Riku/Kairi and you have the same relationship as Terra/Aqua/Ven.

  • Roxas > Ventus

  • Give Ven his heart back!

    No, Sora already took it!

  • @Bizkit047 It was VEN-I-TAS. The name changed after Vanitas fused with Ven.

  • So if Sora has Ventus' heart, then Sora could have found the chamber in Chain of Memories?

  • Maximum cart-wheels. o_o

  • @Bizkit047 so.. terra and ven both like aqua but aqua likes ven more than she likes terra? pedophile?
