willy pep at one point in his career was 130-1 oh but he didnt retire undefeated so he sucks (blatent sarcasm)
-
So? Whitaker got robbed against him so did taylor
-
@Mobil1one Are you kidding? By the time he was 89-0 and he had already probably won 15 or more championship fights. Rasario, Lockridge, Taylor etc. He was considered the p4p at that time so to say he wouldn't have been remembered for anything is absurd!

@CaviusTheGreat well shit an James toney went 44-0. Jones jr 50-1 but only loss was DQ to griffin. Records dont mean shit its who you fight. Calzaghe shouldnt be in the top 100 fighters of all time he beat nobody great at the top of there game
-
@CaviusTheGreat but chavez didnt retire undefeated..(not a fan of marciano either)

@CaviusTheGreat Not for mexican fighters, Chavez Jr is also at a point were every fight he will he in from here on up will try him more and more. all im saying is you can be 44-0 and your biggest fight was against Manfredo Jr, or in Floyds case you are 42-0 and have fought the majority of the great light/welter weight fighters in this era. its not necessarily rare in the sport of boxing but boxing isnt what it used to be boxers fight less in this day and age so it is rare enough.

@Mobil1one i guess you dont understand a figure of speech well? relatively speaking its decent but not that uncommon. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is now also 1 win away from 45-0. its impressive but not unheard of and not particularly rare which was my initial point that i was trying to make.

@CaviusTheGreat Chavez Sr fought bar fights in mexico as a young pro instead of fighting an amateur career, not all those fights were with worthy opponents. 45-0 is a big deal, there was no point in Chavez reitering because he would have been remembered for anything.

It's a good thing Calzaghe wasn't around during Hopkings younger years otherwise this would have been his first loss
-
again I can't see how he won this!
most ppl think 49 -0 is the best boxing record (Marciano) but it really was 89 - 0 (Chavez)

45 -0 really isnt a big deal, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. was 89-0 during a point in his career and he could of retired there but he wanted to continue fighting.
