I know you're probably thinking why am I uploading a video with two women who wrote nasty things about their mother. Well, it's because from the mothers point of view they probably want to remember the good times they shared with their daughters. But we also have the ones like Lucie and Desi Jr., Joan's other two daughters, Bette's son, and Marlene's daughter, Maria, who miss their mothers very much. Enjoy!

  • I think that this song was performed by Barbara Streisand (Being a fan of The Nanny & Fran) but what song is this? Lol, plus Fran was singing this... what's the song called? Wonderful song with the most wonderful video of Lucille, Bette, Marlene and Joan.

  • @beyoncetyratina The song is called The Way We Were.

  • I don't. I'm only believing Maria, who was there. It wasn't mean what she said, it was no Mommie Dearest.

  • I wouldn't call it horrible either. Maria herself said she didn't want to write a Mommie Dearest type of book, it's just the truth.

My day. They were the cream of the crop head. And heels over what we have today. Shame on you hollywood what have you created out there on California.? You have lost the magic of CLASS. Love and honor It's gone fore ever bah humbug.

  • @rachelazw

    Thank you very much...

Haha, yes ma'am, I am very young.... My English Teacher at school found out I'm into Classic Hollywood and was very dumbfounded. I quote her, "OH MY GOD!! I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT YOU LIKE THESE OLD STUFF!!" (referring to The Andrews Sisters book I borrowed). Thank you for the information about the movie.

  • @AlaskaLass, that's not true as far as Christina Crawford is concerned. Google "The Revolt of Joan Crawford's Daughter" This is an article published in Redbook magazine in 1960, many years before Joan Crawford died. It doesn't expose the most horrid details, but it is clear from what Christina informed in that article, by the odd silence of others on certain issues (e.g., nuns at her school), and by statements (and actions) made publicly by Joan herself, that Joan could be a very cruel mother.

  • @beyoncetyratina , Barbra Streisand singing "The Way We Were," the title song of the great Barbra Streisand/Robert Redford film, "The Way We Were." You must be very young if you're not familiar with that classic movie, or with this song. The movie was nominated for at least six Academy Awards, and this song won Best Original Song and Best Original Score. Terrific movie. Check it out.

  • Maria's book in the last few chapters is bitter, trying to paint her legendary mother in a bad light. Marlene was a perfectionist and self absorbed but a great woman. Maria a failed actress and jealous, never said no to her mother's money. The grandsons oversee Marlene's Museum. 'Mommie Dearest' has since been proved a gross exaggeration. The twins say they didn't grow up in the same house at all. B.D's book on Bette was cruel and really hurt her. Only Lucy escapes unscathed, bossy yes!

  • Bittersweet.
