her final student film from NYU, director Sandi Higgins creates visual poems on the streets of downtown Manhattan around Ground Zero, which she combines with Iraq war-protest footage & archival video to reflect on American morale post 9/11. through her curvy use of steadicam and choreographed camera movement, Higgins evokes the process of searching for perspective... refuge... peace.
Higgins directed One Nation Under while she was also working on the Hollywood blockbuster _The Interpreter_ as the Director of Photography's assistant; she and her crew shot the whole film over a sleepless holiday weekend. the movie was originally titled "I'm the Messiah" after a dream of Higgins's close friend who was hospitalized in critical condition at the time.
