This is the first part of the unaired KTMA pilot of Mystery Science Theater 3000. The episode is only nearly 26 minutes long, due to it being an example of the show's intent not a complete episode. This is a bootleg copy of the first showing of this episode at DragonCon 2008. The camera operator in the first part tweaks the tripod at the first part, then stabilizes giving the best quality of all the KTMA era episodes.

  • Ahhh. Thanks. With that tidbit of info I looked into it more and you're very right. Apparently he owns the rights to the bots so that's why they're not being used anymore. Also, they're all pretty mum about why they work separately, but I'm sure it's just conflicting ideas and personalities. I don't like that there are two different teams though - makes me feel like mommy and daddy don't love one another anymore!! WAAAH another broken home!! (hhehehe)

  • Never seen any of the green slime pilot before, great piece of mst3k history! Thanks for posting!!!

  • I can only see beeper as Tom Servo v0.5, later upgraded with a voice synthesizer and shiny red paint job.

  • @VTPPGLVR Just the name of the station they were originally on. No idea if it actually has a meaning.

  • What does KTMA stand for?

  • The one dislike is Beeper.

  • @videovic99

Joel said "I always liked the movie Silent Running, and I made these robots out of found objects for awhile.

...and I go "Oh I can use that for puppets", so I kind-of transposed that idea...of watching movies in silouttes with these puppets...and that's kind-of how Mystery Science Theater came into being.

And I pitched it to Jim Allen, and he liked it, and before we knew it, we were getting ready to make this pilot.".

  • What is he saying at 2:11 ? I always liked the movie ... ???

  • I remember seeing part of this from the MST3K scrapbook tape. Glad I'm able to see more of it here, though I can see why they cut it short as it was just a test run.

  • What is the date of this?

  • "We're gonna do this show and there's going to be these puppets.. do you want to come do it with me?"

  • Wow, the first ever tunnel sequence, that's awesome
