In May of 1996 we were in Colorado to experience the mecca of narrow gauge steam . The C & T was also on our agenda but on this morning we drove our rental along Hwy 550 following the train as it was leaving town on the journey to Silverton. So here's my contribution to the D & S playlist. The 480 is a Baldwin K-36 originally built for the DRGW in 1925.

  • @sgtredbluered that is a spark arrestor to the style of the old Colorado and Southern. They shovel coal on these engines, as they are not large enough to require an automatic stoker.

  • Interesting. What is he spraying at 630? Also, what is configuration of smokestack? Is that recent issue spark arrestor? Do they shovel coal on that vintage locomotive, or is it feed?

  • That was cool!!...

  • She pulled a 10 Car train To Cascade yesterday.
