  • @6odbout So with the first variation, he plays the melody in his left hand, and implies half-time swing with the ride cymbal pattern. With the second variation, left hand stays the same, and he implies the dotted-quarter note with his ride pattern. in the the third variation, he implies the half-note triplet with his ride cymbal pattern. it's tricky to hear, because the half-note triplet is only a little bit "faster" than the dotted quarter note.
