  • With SATA there really isn't that distinction anymore. Each drive has a single connection to the motherboard and it isn't necessary to designate one as Master or Slave. On older systems using IDE connections, the positioning of a jumper on the drive and its position on the cable create that designation.

  • where can i find a sata cabel

  • would be good if I could hear it, your audio level is too low, sorry.... :(

  • My whole objective in searching for a video like this was to learn where on the motherboard you connect the data cable for the 2nd drive. I have one cable going to the Primary HD, one going to the R/W DVD drive and then it looks like a Yellow and Blue still empty. Which one do I use for the 2nd HD? You totally zoomed by that like everyone is supposed to know all this stuff. . .

  • Great video! I have an HP m8530f that freezes and BSOD. I replaced the HD and will make the old drive secondary. I will use the recovery disks to format the new HD. However since the old HD still has data.. do I need to do anything with that drive? I know I need to make sure the BIOS recognizes BOTH drives.. but is there anything else I need to do to the old HD?

  • how will you know here, which hard drive is Primary Master and which one is Primary Slave in both one that is attached here?
