@flymajj I'm sure I've seen photos of two coach trains in winter. The beauty of loco hauled trains- flexibility.

superb footage of the highlands with proper traction un
like nowadays

In a word superb!!

Interesting to see the "route clear" from Tulloch with the help of the station master/signaller/cleaner etc etc! Now all trains have to stop at Tulloch to send/ receive tokens.
Brilliant vid! Takes me back!

Usually 5 on the oban and 6 on Ft bill. In the summer they were often longer, and even had several brake vans if cycling clubs booked in advance! With the old vac mark Is sometimes the Oban would be load 2 due to stock availability and the Mallaig could be a single coach.

Excellent stuff, thanks for sharing!

These vids are absolutely brilliant, really take me back. Imperfect everyday scenes are what the railway is about. Well done!
What was a typical rake for these trains?

@flymajj These were all regular service trains so pretty typical. In winter (thats when it rains even more!!) the trains were generally shorter - and virtually empty.
