YouTube - Yous outta control!

Argh! Today I found this on my YouTube Channel:

Following several changes to the layout and design of the page, YouTube has made its most significant change yet by suggesting friends (now contacts) will be abandoned unless individual users go through their lists and decide which of their "contacts" they want to sub. I suggest that YouTube either leaves it alone (which I would prefer), or at least merge friends with subscriptions, if that's the only way they are going to allow people to stay in contact.

UPDATE:Yesterday [December 21st] I finally could follow the link that has been 404 for the entire last week. Now I can choose to subscribe to all those I have friended, but had not subscribed to. This is an improvement, but it still seems that this move is more about increasing ad revenue at the expense of YouTube's online community.

@XEmeralDQueenX I think it would be hard to miss the changes that have been going on unless you have been away for a while. At this point YouTube has sort of taken care of the problem as I have described it in this video, i.e. eliminating friends. More changes are on the way however and we are the captive audience to them for better or worse.

I just sent this video and a re-send message to 50 people. If you agree with MsMrNoface please do the same. Please share with as many people as possible. Maybe if enough people express discontent hopefully they can still change it back.

@jstnfshr I appreciate the gesture. On your channel page at bottom right there is a feedback button I sent this short message to Google: "It's not the layout I'm concerned with. That I guess I can adjust to. It's the merger of friends and contacts. I don't see anyway to tell which of my friends/contacts I am not subbed to; finding out would require me to go through my contacts and go to their channel wouldn't it? Is there an easier way?"

I'll let you know if they respond with anything useful.

Exactly, thankyou! This is complete bullshit! The worst part is that all of the various groups I organized in my address book are GONE. The groups are important for sharing purposes. How dare they just delete all that time and effort it took? The idiot that made that decision obviously doesn't use YouTube, or understand how stupid of an idea this was.

I agree with you man, but unfortunately I don't think you tube are really thinking in us, They are more worry with there big contracts! Even knowing that we are the youtube! WE MADE THE YOUTUBE POPULAR! and they are acting like dictators I hate that, I'm trying thos new layout and it sucks you can see your subscribers anymore!
