whenever I graduate college, I am buying myself this volume set.

@wise4me The Merriam Webster 2nd Edition is for some reason more popular among collectors. I must confess to being a nerd supreme! I treated myself to an OED 20 Volume set after reading the book, "Reading the OED" and, "The Professor and the Madman" ! I LOVE it! We actually keep 2 Sets available for sale at our Shop at all times! lol

I have the entire OED in its latest hard copy print edition. Everything said in that quote is true. It's a fucking work of art, absolutely amazing.

This vid was so interesting I immediately went to price the OED.
Amazon has it for $895. On-line subscriptions are available through Oxford University Press of $295 a year (see oed[dot]com; free trial, and monthly rates available).
If I treat myself to a subscription, MrCr merits a referral fee, which I'll need to pay to him separately.

The OED is especially useful when reading older works, like Shakespeare. Often the reader can find a quote from one of S's plays that illustrates the meaning at his time.

I love these stand-alone MrCropper videos that aren't part of any larger series. This way, I can receive MrCropper's wisdom in a bite-sized form that is short and sweet. :-)
I say 'hooray' for Victorian, prissy self-assuredness! How I sometimes wish I was born into the height of the British empire, but then again in such an era I wouldn't be able to watch MrCropper pontificate on the Net. High tech selfishness kicks ass.

I agree; YouTube is for those of us, like me, who can't sustain an attention span for more than 4:00 minutes, thanks to our public educations and MTV :-).
