  • I notice people are mentioning that he should not be teaching. I'm speculating it's because he's not teaching time signatures, counts, "musicology"! His teachings are for the person (me) who can't read music and they play by hear and feel. So based off that, I enjoy this, because I don't read music and find teachings based on "musicology" difficult. I do want to learn to read; however, I feel something like this is perfect for me.

  • I can't understand why you love the sound. I think it's terrible, it doesn't even sound tuned. But he is a good drummer, that's no doubt. :)

  • as someone who can play by ear, as well as read the time signatures and music..I've found it very refreshing to see some who can explain simply the musicality and feeling to drumming without shoving all of the math and physics of it down your throat...i don't know about alot of you up-n-coming drummers , but when I started out I wasn't ready for learning the true philosophy of drumming until later years, and even though I've learned 3/4ths of it now, it's still good to be able to just listen..

  • @matjor1 all kits are tunes different however you like it if they was all tuned drums be a bit boarin right lol

  • you really can't say anything about the sounds of the tom's ... anyone could like any sound they like... for example metal contains low pitch tom's , jazz, blues, etc... you could tune them the way u want.. there's no specific way to tune them... although to tune them right you may have to know notes and tune them in notes but only if u want it specific... gospel players tend to tune them like that ... there's nothing wrong with it... and for you" HEARANDPLAY" it sounds great..

  • @PositivelyBored I certainly agree with that as this is one vehicle of learning. Maybe I should reiterate that for the type and style of music this is perfect for me because I don't understand the various time signature (which I do now, because I have been taking classes). However; you are correct, I wouldn't use this as my only means of learning as it is limited in that sense. My point was that there are people criticizing the guy and I am confident over half of them can't hold a drumstick!

  • @emphyrean

all chops and no musicality is what you want to avoid. :(

  • great drummer great teacher:)
