@zellymusic if not believing the claim of any person who says "I am God" is the cardinal rule, then we shouldn't believe Christ is God. If believing that Christ is God is the standard to which we hold all subsequent claimants, then it's just a matter of who got to you first. As ridiculous as Malachi York is- who's to say Christ wasn't as ridiculous? The original Christian church was actually smaller than the Nuwaubians.

Also the Bible said in the last days there will be people saying I am he...Dont believe them! So from a biblical standpoint its made very clear to not believe anyone who comes claiming he is God! There is only one Mediator between God and Man.....and that is the very words God speaks to you. No man comes to the father with out having a conversation with him. Yes!! THE WORD of God.

The Bible says do not be deceived by the elemental spirits of the universe! So if there were no such spirits that was in the universe that was not based on or subject to the elements, why would it be mentioned at all. It's ironic, every time I hear York I think of the Posdnous lyric "while some others play God they just goddamn fools"- ironic, because Posdnous is supposedly a Nuwaubian. If you think this dude is God you are gullible as all hell, and have no understanding of human motivation (like why a person would want you to believe they're a divine being from another planet- sex and money)

In 1964 York was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of raping a 13-year-old girl. Later that year he was arrested again for assault, possession of a dangerous weapon and resisting an officer. York was sentenced to three years in state prison. After which he was paroled in 1967.[8]
