I'm doing to do another speaker build. I am so happy with how my two way tower speakers turned out, so I'm going to try and make a proper 3-way speaker. My goal, to out do my previous build in every possible way - clarity, balance and accuracy and lastly appearance. This will likely take some time but I've pretty much decided that I'll be using the components in this video. Each speaker will have one tweeter, one mid and two woofers. Cant wait to actually get started!

  • Macintosh mc275 to be exact ;)

  • @BassOnABudget Damn that would be awesome. Those are classics!

  • Great looking project, I bet they are going to sound NICE! Love the demo, breaking in the Vifa's with the Orion 225 HCCA...what an underrated little BEAST!!

  • @bigdwiz The 225 and the 250 (got both) are possibly my favorite car amps. So beautiful. Well you know, you've got em too :) I cant wait to finish the speaker project and then see how it actually sounds not only on my main home amp, but through the hcca - just to compare the SQ of the car amp vs home amp. I'm curious. The speakers will end up being 4 ohm each. Maybe the 250HCCA will be better to test with.

  • how much power are you going to put thru there?

  • @MKBEntertainment I'm going to be powering these speakers with my Threshold SA3 which is a modest 50wpc but its high current so it should offer lots of control :)

  • Lookin good :) I have a vifa 8" driver for midbass and it sounds great. I'm thinking of building a system soon but I'm trying to find a good valve amp first, probably a macintosh amp :)

  • @theaudiophilestore I just checked that kit out. Its very similar with the only difference being the aluminum tweeter vs silk. I'd imagine it would be quite close. I might only need to tinker just a little to perfect it. Thanks again :)

PS. I dont know why audio as a hobby is addictive like crack but I dont mind it at all ;)

  • @theaudiophilestore Oh wow I didnt even know about that kit! I will definitely do that then because it will save me lots of time and frustration. Do you think the little 6" is going to be fine at 80Hz? I've heard from some that they dont like to be driven very hard - but then again I dont know what their definition of hard is. At first I was thinking 150Hz then bumped it to 200Hz. I imagine the lower I'd go, the better for imaging.
