Quite interesting to hear this song in Japanese... but she really killed it! Those high notes are heavenly. <3

@waterkeeper511 Thanks for clearing that up! It's terrible when people die so young!!! When any singer sings an aria, they are going to be judged by operatic standards. Just like any when any singer sings a country song, then they would be judged by country standards. I'm glad to hear that she had a successful career and would like to offer my heartfelt sympathy to all her fans!!!

Most of us here can recognize Honda Minako for her greatness...of course, a lot of opera fanboys/fangirls are also watching this and judging her from their pre-conceived notions of how opera should sound. The fact of the matter is, Honda Minako was a beloved Japanese vocalist; even if she wasn't the greatest opera singer, she was still one of the greatest vocalists of all time.

@flowersings Honda Minako wasn't an opera singer. She was a teen idol in the 1980s, then later started a solo career when she started taking classical voice lessons. She was in the process of growing as a singer when she died at age 38. You should listen to Honda's other songs that aren't from the opera genre; in particular, listen to her song "Jupiter," based on the Holst song. Also check out her version of On My Own. She may not be great in opera but she's a fantastic vocalist in other genres.
