Doamnelor şi domnilor, mulţumesc celor aproape 500 de colegi ai noştri care au dat, ieri, un vot zdrobitor împotriva folosirii cianurii în minerit. Cînd zicem cianură, zicem moarte.
Acest vot categoric ne face nouă, românilor, un mare bine. În Transilvania se află unul dintre cele mai mari zăcăminte naturale din lume. Oamenii de ştiinţă apreciază că e vorba de 300 de tone de uraniu de o mare puritate, de 800 de tone de aur, de 2.000 de tone de argint şi de imense cantităţi de alte metale şi elemente rare.
O Mafie lacomă, autohtonă şi transnaţională, dă tîrcoale acestor bogăţii, făcînd o propagandă din ce în ce mai agresivă, în care abundă minciunile cele mai ridicole. Folosirea cianurii ar fi provocat un dezastru colosal: otrăvirea mediului înconjurător, dinamitarea a 4 munţi, distrugerea a 9 cimitire şi demolarea a 8 biserici creştine, dar şi dispariţia a 1.700 de kilometri de galerii romane, fiind şterse de pe faţa pămîntului ruinele cetăţii romane Alburnus Maior, o comoară arheologică descrisă de UNESCO drept "un patrimoniu cultural unic în lume".
Europei i-a fost de ajuns un Cernobîl, nu îi mai trebuie altul!

Ladies and gentlemen, I want to thank the nearly 500 of our colleagues who yesterday gave an overwhelming vote against the use of cyanide in mining. When we say cyanide, we say death.
The vote definitely makes us, the Romanians, great justice. In Transylvania there is one of the largest minerals deposit in the world. Scientists estimate it to about 300 tons of high-yield uranium, 800 tonnes of gold, 2,000 tons of silver and huge amounts of other metals and rare elements.
A greedy mafia, both local and transnational, is sniffing these riches, making an increasingly aggressive propaganda, in wich most ridiculous lies abound. The use of cyanide would have caused a huge disaster: poisoning of the environment, destruction of four mountains, the destruction of nine cemeteries and demolition of eight Christian churches, also the disappearance of 1,700 km of Roman mining galleries, erasing from the map the Roman ruins of Alburnus Maior, an archaeological treasure described by UNESCO as "a worlds unique cultural heritage".
One Chernobyl was enough for Europe, and it does not need another!
