Fighting Elecman with the Rolling Cutter IS pretty cheap, but he's insanely difficult without it, as he's super-fast, has a random pattern, and very resistant to your default weapon, whereas his takes off a third of your health. Truth be told, it was sort of a bad idea to fight him second (I usually leave him for last), as both he and his stage are quite hard. The weapon order isn't necessary the best order, as you'll very frequently have a hard boss/stage early on, and end with a weakling.
