@slmbm5419 ive only just realized his magic... i used to listen to my parents play his country stuff and i loved it....but only just bought his fully realised album ... the man had soul seepin out of every pore... so 20 years on from mum n dad im listening to the real charlie....gonna buy more ... fingers crossed..
I've been a Charlie Rich fan ever since The Fabulous Charlie Rich. I always loved this song too. He was a soulful singer and he pours it out on this one. But how can you pick one favorite from the album? Life's Little Ups and Downs was the first song I heard Charlie do. It made me a fan forever.
Of all the songs on The Fabulous Charlie Rich, this one is my favorite. I don't exactly know why...after all, there's Life Little Ups and Downs, San Francisco is a Lonely Town, It Makes Me Want to Cry, I Almost Lost My Mind, etc. Perhaps it's the lyric "...but the low wage and worry is always worth it at five..." that perks my nerve. After all, like the bus driver, I work a dreary job with little to look forward to. But, damn, that "little" thing keeps me hopeful. Makes me want to do better...
