In the near future there's been a war between the pro-life and pro-choice factions. To settle the nasty dispute they agree to abolish abortion, but children between the ages of 13-18 can become Unwinds, which means their parents can choose to get rid of them by sending them to a harvest camp where they "live on" by having every last piece of their body donated. The story revolves around three Unwinds--2 boys and 1 girl—who go on the run together and eventually join an Underground Railroad system that delivers them to a safe (or is it?) haven. A phenomenal concept, characters that get under your skin and an ending that will literally give you shivers makes this a must read that will inspire you to relish your freedom and closely examine your own mores. Watch the Arapahoe Library District's own Terri Clark in this ALD Live Review of Unwind by Neal Shusterman

  • Well, "Unwind" was a good story, but I'm not completely sold on the writing. It's not really my personal favorite when it comes to the style and syntax...I thought it was a little too simplistic.

  • this book was put into our school curriculum as an independant reading book, and i usually hate the books they give us for that but this one is one of my new faveorites:)

  • Unwinding is scary during the chapter when it shows you one through a childs point of veiw.

  • Isn't that why we have wars for? To 'unwind' teens for their lives?

  • haha.. i get it now, but the weird thing is like half of the book i dont get .. i read it over and over again but i just dont get it..

  • ahh i read this 3 months ago, and in those 3 months i got my mom to read it and she absolutely hated it so i think she returned it and i've forgotton half the plot so i cant help you there buddy. hahaha

  • im like on the 42 page and its soo addicting, i just dont understand the beginning its kinda confusing
