I just watched this today. LOVED it! I hadn't heard about it before, but it was on TCM and sounded interesting. It was wonderful! The ending was not what I was expecting. I'm definitely going to search for the book in which the film was based on.
I so wish I was my age (19) in the 50s/60s!
If anyone can recommend some similar old movies to me, I'd be very greatful. (: I've already seen Lolita.
the music for this trailer is so far from the feel of the actual movie. It makes it out to be some kind of comedy when in fact it is a somewhat weightier affair based loosely on the Edna O'Brien trilogy "the Country Girls". Ignore the trailer and catch the film its a great picture of local and city life in Ireland in the 60's. One of my faves anyhow.
Lynne Redgrave R.I.P. has a great turn as Baba even if the accent is dodgy!
I love this movie. It's like watching my life.

The film is much better than this silly trailer portrays it to be. Go see it! It is charming.
And Peter Finch was one dreamy handsome man!
