Optimized Board Edger - Short Boards

TS Manufacturing Short Board optimized Edger.

This system was designed to handle boards as short as 30" and up to 2" thick. This edger is using TS Manufacturing Optimization and is running hardwoods (mostly Birch). The system is capable of over 30 pieces per minute and has been running since 1989. Although the Operator infeed design is more rudimentary than our more recent Optimized Edger systems, it still allows for a large amount of surge capacity with little operator effort. Due to the limitations of computers combined with mill layout, this system has a large amount of floorspace leading up to the actual positioning system.

The positioning is done by Hydraulic Linear cylinders with the board running up against popup pins. When the board has been positioned, it is moved to the edger utilizing driven clamp rolls, allowing for the subsequent board to be positioned while the board is feeding into the edger.
