  • This seriously made me miss home so much!!! Where you start the video is like 3 miles from where I grew up.. just on the other side of Shavers Mtn. I can't tell you how many times I've been on this road... great video!!! Btw.. the hole in the mountain thing is where they got the rock and materials to build most of the highway. It was a quarry during the construction of the road. There really aren't any coal mines near Elkins.

  • @thompson271 Thanks... Yeah in retrospect that coal mine comment was kind of dumb on my part. But the explanation of how the cave got there makes sense.

  • excellent scenery , great video

  • @ScrewdUPClickV2 Thanks man!

  • Thanks for another amazing video! I camp about 25 miles from there, and my parents used to live in Elkins. One of my favorite drives in the whole world!

  • @WVBoy25401 Thanks... more like this coming over the next couple of months...

  • I got to Seneca Rocks every year, and I love that drive

  • At 3.42 in the video, if you would have panned the camera to the left just a bit you would have seen my house!

BTW. Your one of the people I always scream at coming home from work for driving in the fast lane!

    Slow traffic keep right? LOL

  • I grew up in Alpena, just behind the Apline Lodge. I believe you had just passed it on your right abot a mile or so before you started filming. I've only been back once, but I love and miss it!

  • I love that drive, take it a few times a year :)

  • @FreewayBrent Thanks! They have a pretty decent highway infrastructure relative to their population. That was in part due to their Senator, Robert Byrd, who recently passed away. He secured a lot of the federal money for highways and highway upgrades across the state. A lot of people from the DC area flock out there for weekend getaways - some of the best whitewater rafting and kayaking in the Eastern US.
