  • One day at GIT in 1984, I cut through a performance room on the way to class and Jimmy Herring was in there by himself, plugged in and riffing the most spectacular spot-on Duane Allman groove I ever heard. I stopped in my tracks, smiled, looked at Jimmy, and said "Sounds great, man!" You could tell that cat had it even way back then!
