If you channel a gate (a trench) connecting the bottom of two balls together,
just fill one ball... the air will escape through the second ball cavity. Basically if you vent the air trapped in the mould during pouring... you should get a better and more consistent product. Connecting all the balls together MIGHT be possible, but I think the molten lead might cool off too much before it gets to the last ball.
Why not just invest $25 in a used Lee mold. Makes the round balls better and faster with no trimming either.

The thin escaping material is called flash. ie the mould is flashing.
