  • @ravoughn1 The original tai-otoshi was executed without the blocking leg. Because of the current use of the blocking leg people does not realize that it bears a lot of the same principles of sumi-otoshi and uki-otoshi. Together with tai-otoshi they form a trinity of throws/drops that should be executed practically with just the hands and a sudden change of one's center of gravity. In a correctly executed tai-otoshi stepping over the leg shouldn't save you.

  • @grayman19 The last few demonstrations were drills.

  • The trick to tai otoshi is moving your entire body out of the way of his body. The last few in the video failed because of this. Rather than tripping and dropping him over your leg, you are trying to trip him with you hip, which is what causes uke to slide off like that.

  • Unfortunately my tai otoshi usually ends like the ones in the last seconds of the video... I still have a lot of work o do with this move...
