Review Script: Every Story Ever Told is much more underwhelming than the critics give it credit for. One man sets it upon himself to tell every story ever told in an hour, but for the most part it's a jumbled mess of jumping from one random literature or pop culture reference to another. The idea is unique -- but Ryan Gladstone continuously comes down hard on himself and decides that for the last 20 minutes we will deconstruct a story and create our own story. Which is where the initially funny play stops being funny and goes for boring instead. Our group decided to create a Film Noire Horror story about a 9-year old Edward who is allergic to peanuts, but his parents (who he doesn't know as he thinks that he's an orphan) are peanuts who are trying to kill him. It was ridiculous -- and not good ridiculous. His pop culture references also take away from the brilliance his one-man show could have had through a critical literary analysis. In short, what started off funny quickly became more grating than anything else. And after talking with other people, I know I'm not alone in saying Nay.
