With my dobstuff kit finally built and functional, I decided to take it to downtown Geneva and do a little sidewalk astronomy. My buddy Kevin was hosting a punk show at the Headless Sullivan Theater (the band was called Do it With Malice, skacore out of Buffalo and very good) so I thought that would be a perfect venue. The sky did not cooperate. Clouds consistently obscured Saturn and when they didn't, I had trouble finding it because of the terrible light pollution. The time lapse sequence does show off set up and take down, however, a gives the viewer a little sense how the telescope moves. As is obvious, this is really a seated-viewing telescope, and next time I do outreach I'll have an observing chair with me! Read more of my astronomical stories at punkastronomy.com
