From NASA, in this animation, the Arctic sea ice and seasonal land cover change progress through time, from September 1, 2009 when sea ice in the Arctic was near its minimum extent, through March 30, 2010. The animation plays at a rate of six frames per day or ten days per second. http://climate.exweather.com

  • Keep in mind that the new ice is thin and much of it will melt during this summer...

  • Does this mean Al Gore is going into hiding again?

  • @oilhammer04 people that gloat over one cold snap are so short sighted its a wonder you can walk.

  • @shan4883 toba toba toba. what happens when tons of ice melts off of antarctica and it springs up like a wet sponge? toba toba toba. world wide. some of these people have no idea what they have committed the earth to by ignoring global warming.

  • Also, not to forget, the earthquakes too, which was occurring every day around the world last year and now today. On record, Chile had an 8.8, which moved the city west 10 ft. and the earth's axis by 3 in. and may have shorten the days. New Zealand had a 7.1 that moved 11 ft. and than Haiti also had a 8.8 and we've seen the devastation of that one. So, that's something to think about when people think our earth is just fine.

  • Don't forget all the tornadoes, hurricanes, and a giant tsunami in New Orleans we've had throughout the years in the summer and fall, especially last year in 2010!! The Pacific ocean is mostly affected by it. I believe we've been having Global warming more than Global cooling. It's typical when ice and snow appear in the winter and than melts away. There's been tons of videos of this bad weather that proves the warming is real and it could get worse, which is sad. The earth is changing slowly.

  • Typical dumb, ignorant comments here.

2010 was the hottest year on record, with record heatwaves in many countries, record melting of Arctic sea ice during the summer, massive flooding in Pakistan with nearly a quarter of the country underwater, record bleaching of coral, etc. etc.

Global warming is real and there is OVERWHELMING SCIENTIFIC CONSENSUS about this. Humans release 130 times more CO2 than all volcanoes combined. Weather isn't the same thing as climate you fucking ignorant morons.

  • @csmth96, Gore should still give the prize back since we've had over a decade of cooling when there should have been warming. Gore is a fraud, and he proves it by how he lives. He wants others to give up what he will not give up.

  • @oilhammer04 If the picture has shown the trend of 2007-2009, then you are right. However, the trend in the video is a only winter trend. It is expected that the ice extent will grow from the minimum in the winter.

  • No wonder it's been so cold! Al Gore needs to give the Nobel prize back, NOW!
