Video of these beautiful raptors filmed in Haines Island park, and my backyard. Sorry for the playback quality, had to use a lower setting to keep to file size down.

  • these birds are beuatiful.but they are powerful

  • Yes they are. I mis-Identified this one but it's a common mistake. I can tell the difference now. WE have so many species of them here.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Do they hunt owls, more specifically great horned owls ?

  • I know that hawks will catch many species, I'm quite sure they could take down a small owl. Would be tough to bring down one as big as a Great horned, but it's possible.

    Thanks for watching!

  • These are some pretty birds I sometime see the kinds of birds on top of telephone poles,in trees or soaring in feilds by the farm

  • Yes, they love to sit up high on poles and in trees so they can spot prey. They are magnificent creatures, thanks for watching!

  • Red-Tailed Hawks do not usually prey on chickens, they were mistaken for the Cooper's Hawk and other hawks that have a diet that consists more of birds. Goshawks and Sharp-shinned Hawks. Red-tailed Hawks mostly feeds on rabbits, rodents, and snakes. And they are ONE of the largest hawks in North America. They can grow almost just as large as the Ferruginous Hawk.

    Red-tailed Hawk:

    Size: 19-26 inches

    Wingspan: 4-5 feet

    Ferruginous Hawk:

    Size: 20-27 inches

    Wingspan: 4.4-5 feet

  • The cry that you hear at the beginning of the video is that of a Red-Shouldered Hawk. They are typically forest birds that like the dense forests. But the video is wonderful, have fun birding. I work with a red-tail hawk as well as a barred owl, a hariss hawk and a american bald eagle. My red-tail is a wonderful bird that is very calm. They are wonderful birds and people always seem to have the wrong idea about them.

  • @SirianKings Great horned owls will feed on a red tail and its nest given the opportunity

  • Hawks are murderers they kill our pets. I saw my pet dog get killed right in front of my eyes. These creatures are not fascinating. They are terrible creatures that would kill you if they were bigger. Why don't you stop wasting your life studying these things and start killing them.

  • not exactly accurate.. wildlife officials are not Happy to help you relocate hawks and in fact will not do so without your submission of a request for a permit that costs between $50 and $100 and documentation that you have exhausted all other efforts to get the bird to go away on your own. in the meantime the hawks are free to kill your chickens, songbirds, and cats...

  • that's a red shouldered hawk.
