@roguemale57 for me, "naku" has a more negative connotation like say "argh! why u did that!?" (naku! why did u do that?!). "pala" is a pleasant surprise like you weren't expecting it.

i think "pala" is used when you're surprised to see/notice something that you are not expecting or opposite to what you are expecting..

Hindi NAMAN pala maraming tao eh! In this situation you are surprised that there are no people around.
