  • Wow what an amazing video now i know what those stuctures are there is one not to far from here in Atherton never been tho, plus i recently came back from St. Agnus there is very one nice there.

  • @DavideoDesign Hi there, Im glad you found this video useful - thanks for watching and commenting. If you follow the link to the Subterranea Britannica (sub brit) website from the video description, you should be able to find out a bit more information on your local ROC post. Regards, Hanglands.

  • Nice model. Well done. I like the homely touch of the ROC Journal on the table. I had the whole set apart from the last one as they didn't issue enough. I finally got one off Ebay.

As a suggestion for more equipment - how about some dosimeters and a charger unit?

They cleared everything out of our post and took it away - even the rope.

The Post is still there - close to a crumbling cliff edge. One day it'll end up on the beach!

  • @ffinnywix Thanks very much for watching and commenting.I was planning to do a better version in the future, with a bit more detailing. This was a bit of a learning exercise with the software really, and my first proper model, but I wanted to do something that interested me.I managed to acquire the journals for the period my father was an observer via ebay, and Im glad you completed your set. Its sad to see so many posts in such a terrible state. My fathers post (Sawtry) is now a mobile phone mast.

  • This is great - really enjoyed watching what you have created. So sad that many of the posts are either demolished or in a poor condition (like the one near me, for example - Mold in Flintshire).

  • @aaronjthomas Thanks for watching, and your kind comments. Indeed it is sad that such history is subject to the vandals, there are a few well preserved posts though. Your local one has a nice brick aircraft observation post though.

  • @nerdishcouk Thanks a lot for watching and commenting. This little project was the product of an afternoon off work, and a couple of evenings - I was just learning Sketchup really... It couldve been a lot better than it actually is.

  • Excellent video! Very well made on Sketchup.

I've tried to make some German Watchtowers on it but the results haven't been great so far.

May i ask, how long did it take for you to create this model?

  • @landroversrs1 Hi there. Thanks for watching and commenting - and also for the information. Im sure theres a ton of stuff Ive missed out from this 'post' and I hope to rectify that in the future... Im still learning about these posts and the similarities and differences between them. Ive been thinking of doing a master post as an 'improved' model. Nice to get another comment from a former observer, so many thanks once again.

  • Excellent,

However no mention of the 12v Generator for charging the NICAD batteries. I was aware some didn't always have one, and had to borrow one from an adjoing post, until in the late 80;s they started to replace the old ones with Honda 12v units to bring the posts without generators up to full serviceabilty.
