http://www.ProFirstAid.com Once a child choking victim becomes unconscious, activate EMS. Check for breathing and the object in the patient's mouth, sweep out if possible. Attempt two breaths, if there is no chest rise and fall, attempt two more breaths. Perform 30 chest compressions, check for the object again, and sweep out if possible. Continue this process until the airway is open and air goes into the lungs. Then check for a pulse. If present without breathing, continue rescue breathing. If no pulse or breathing, begin CPR.

your both saying the same thing but he checks for breathing which is best if you are unsure if the person is not breathing but if u see some one who is knocked out you try to make a loud sound to make sure they are unconscious first.

  • This is old video, the new standard has moved the steps around, u gotta check the breathing, then you call for help and aed, then you check the pulse and then you start with chest compressions, not breathing.

  • oops. I meant Cpr with those whose chest is NOT rising with air when you give two breaths versus those who DO have air rising...He kind of overlapped the two things and rushed through it, creating confusion and near failure from most of the class.

  • WOW. You taught me so much better than my red cross instructor did. I just got back from barely passing my test and I though it was because I must be dumb, but in actuality, he skipped over some important key differences between CPR for those with air rising in the chest V.S. CPR with those whose chest is rising... THANKS!
