Recorded on March 4, 2010 using a Flip Video camcorder.
Our dogs have been with us on all of our training hikes and runs to prepare ourselves physically for this trek. RUFFWEAR was kind enough to send us gear for the Silent Auction as well as some booties for our dogs. Phoebe is the Saint Bernard, and Warner is the Great Bernard (great dane st. bernard mix). Here they are in their RUFFWEAR packs and first time in their RUFFWEAR booties.

  • Where do you buy something like this? Is it also good for snow? Thanks.

  • @Alittleflock Ruff Wear makes the best pair, in our opinion.

We have the Grip Trex on Phoebe and Warner in this video, but they also make boots for snow and ice!

  • Dressage is EXACTLY what crossed my mind... Nice video! :-) Did they ever get very used to them? Or do they still walk a little funny?

  • @imemylee it only took them a few minutes to get accustom to them. by the end of this walk they were ripping around in the boots, loving the traction they got on the soft ground. :) they get very excited now when the boots and backpack come out of the closet!

  • Super video!! And great dogs.

  • That's totally normal don't worry

  • I love this video! Me and my Mum were crying with laughter. Its so funny how they're walking. Great gear. I'm just shopping for a Ruff Wear web master harness for my Border Collie now. Not getting the backpack just the harness. Cant wait until it comes. Lovely dogs.

  • @Clydieooo dogs in this day & age do need boots for different occassions with their owners.Activities which have been introduced to dogs can come with more wear & tear on their paw pads, in which case it's best for them to have protective boots on instead of ripping open their paws.Mushers use booties, bikejoring etc.Service dogs wear booties- search & rescue dogs need boots.Guide dogs, military dogs.

Get ur facts right before commenting on things u know nothing about & have no experience with.

  • good lookin dogs. you can tell they are happy.

  • @Clydieooo

Boots are actually very important in protecting dog's pads, especially in the snow. Dog's can get frostbite on their feet, and the boots will prevent that. Also, if you are trekking in a bushy area, the boots will prevent thorns from getting stuck in your dog's pads and fur.
