Very good job. You have a great authentic, but clean sound and style. I always condone that bow hold you are using. The bow hold is traditional (from the baroque bow holding technique), and it actually helps to articulate notes quicker ( the secret is in the weight distribution). It is not a hard rule that all fiddlers use it, but once they try it, many keep it.

@briscott99 I love it man. Whatever works right? I'm a self-taught banjo player and I don't anchor my pinky on the banjo head like most players do. I'm learning the fiddle too and you're playing is quite an inspiration. Keep going =D.

Being a self-taught fiddler, I've developed all kinds of terrible habits in terms of bow gripping and fiddle holding. Luckily for me I can still get some sound out of the box.

I am learning fiddle right now and this is exactly the kind of sound/style I would like to learn...any recommendations for fiddle players to listen to? Great Job!

thanks for the comment. The list of fiddlers to listen to is probably endless. Check out the book "Old Time Kentucky Fiddle Tunes" by Jeff Titon if you are interested in Kentucky fiddling traditions. Some names to check out: Estill Bingham, Clyde Davenport, John Salyer, Jim Bowles, Walter McNew. Check out the Digital Library of Appalachia (website), you can find free recordings of all these people and more.

Well I guess I've been playing fiddle almost 3 years now... started back in August of 05. I'm constantly practicing fiddle and tryin' to get better. Thanks for the compliment.
I enjoy your videos as well. I'm a Marylander myself so maybe we'll run into each other at a jam one of these days.
