two of some of my favorite cars :( It sucks to see them mash together. I own a caprice myself, so I'd feel bad for anything that 4,200 pounds V8 beast runs into.

that was my first car, and looking back i totally could have fixed it - but it worked out in the end. Got an 09 Accord coupe now, but I'll always have a soft spot for my 'bird

yyyeeeeeah, tell that to my credit card companies. i loved the car, but with the settlement I've already squashed more than half of my debt, and without the payments that takes care of the other half. I'll get another one (I've got another one - a '69 that needs to be fixed up), it sucks, I still wished it never happened, but it's cool, I'll have another Pontiac soon. Still think old people shouldn't be allowed to drive though

Welllllll, the end of this story goes that the car has been taken away. I really did want to fix it up, but unfortunately didn't have the means. the difference after the bank is paid will go into credit card debt. I loved the car, but I'm sure whoever ends up with her will fix her up better than new. Good bye old friend!

Alright here's a small update. I figured (from the comments here and from family) that I should keep the car and fix it. Insurance says value is 7,140 and the salvage price that they will subtract is 3,000. Seems kinda high to me. That salvage price sound reasonable?

Thing is the insurance has determined it's a total loss. Parts are expensive. I could keep it and fix it myself, but I'm a poor college student. Insurnace would pay off the loan, but that's it. I haven't agreed, I love the car but the cash to fix it...Hmm... What you would guys/girls do?
