This a microphone shoot out that I did in my little vocal booth. I recorded them through the focusrite dynamic octopre via optical into my digi003R. I didn't use any compression. sorry for the low levels but i hope this is still usefull. they were recorded at 48K, 24bit into protools. The four microphones are:

1. Rode NT1a
2. MX990 Modified (Oktavamod)
3. Apex460 Modified (Oktavmod)
4. Rode K2

I only just got the Oktavamod microphones and seeing as though there is not much out there on youtube in terms of demo's I will try to put up a few just to give people an idea of the sound. Check out my other videos.

I have no affiliation with Oktavamod, I just have bought some of their mics :)

  • the shootout is a wonderful idea, but the volume level of the youtube uploaded video is WAY to low to be able to hear any comparison. Please correct this !!

  • bro introducing the four mics 4 times was annoying....would of been better if you cut that and added a 30 second vocal on each back to back, with out the intros. We can see the mic name printed on the screen

  • Bought the modified NT1a from Oktavamod.

Sounded horrible, nothing like this one.

Joley Didn't, hear or didn't wanna hear what I herd and I sent it back to him

and got my money back after three or four months.

Not to talk about the time it took for him to reply my Emails.

    Crappy experience.

  • K2 won!

  • For sheer clarity and detail, the Rode NT1a is clearly the winner. Seems to have recorded louder than the others too, though I don't know if that's characteristic of the mic itself or where you were positioned.

  • i´m not an expert but Rode k2 its hot and for the price and warranty for me its great choice. thank´s for take me this dout.

  • Thanks but sound too low...

  • Rode K2 killed it! Great vid and nice work !
