i was just at the gany today! i had this giant salmon on for what? like 10 minutes! it jumped and got away! i used a big fly as bait

one question, how far up am I allowed to fish on the river? I was talking to someone and he said that you are allowed to fish up until the spawning ground and then its closed off but my father thinks they close it off earlier to fisherman.
Oh and, where would you recommend to go fishing on the river?

Hey the salmon run has started. I was on the river 2 saturdays ago when we got that rain. Landed 3 lost 1. When fishing for salmon in the river look for rain in the forcast. I was getting my fish on egg sucking leaches, egg pattens and wolleybuggers. If your float fishing you can also use roe, and good luck

ive been fishing port hope a few times and have caught nothing. Any tips from fisherman to fisherman.
Whats the best time for fall salmon run and what baits, lures do you use.

im fron port hope, i went fishing at the gany a couple time's caught a gopie(witch i threw and steped on) and a smally 2 pounds and like 6 or 7 inches

Nice fish, I'm from just north of cobourg and just got into fly fishin this year, unfortunately I missed the spring run but I've been having fun playin around at sylvan glen, just the other day I pulled a 16 inch rainbow out of there. Still looking for nice pools and places to fish for when the browns, brookies, and salmon run, which I am pretty excited about.
