i wonder, do you think we could just be some giant reality show from some intelligent life form out there? for example the aliens found a "Kepler-22b" like planet and it just happen to be our and were like "oh i bet that planet has life on it. lets check it out" they get to about 100AU away from earth and observe us while we're engaging in WW2. figure there's no point in coming to visit and have just been watching us ever since saying things like "i hope those Led Zeppelins play on MTV again"

@2jfw as much as i would like to entertain this trite possibility just for Carl's sake, this is quite insulting to the campaign he made against psuedoscience and superstition. i know you probably respected/loved the guy as much as i do but don't cheapen him with such insinuations.
