Cabrio fans, listen up! Lexus has launched a drop-top version of its IS250 saloon, and its fair to say the new car is nothing short of beautiful. The car, which is called the Lexus IS250C, will go on sale in Ireland in summer 2009, and boasts some very impressive features. Only the bonnet, headlamps, door handles and mirrors are shared with the IS saloon; all other body panels have been redesigned to ensure they harmonise perfectly with the three-part folding roof. Speaking of the roof, it can open and fold out of sight in a mere 20 seconds (as demonstrated in the video) which is record pace for a car in this segment. Its compact roof design means there is large boot space and plenty of head and legroom for rear seat passengers. The IS250C gets the same proven 205hp V6 petrol engine as its saloon counterpart. It also features enhanced torsional stiffness, and noise and vibration levels are on a par with the IS saloon. Thanks to the remarkably compact packaging of the three-part roof mechanism, there is large boot space, together with easy rear seat access and generous accommodation for rear passengers. Having tested the IS220D and the barnstorming ISF, we look forward to bringing you a test on the new cabrio in our reviews section! For more information log onto www.cbg.ie
