Christmas cards, or used to spice up your Christmas gift wrapping. Homemade Christmas crafts can help you save money this holiday season by allowing you to forgo retail stores for pre-made decorations.

The first candy cane appeared over 350 years ago; it was plain white and straight. The modern-day candy canes, complete with red and white stripes, were first produced around 1900. Approximately 1.76 billion candy canes, primarily peppermint flavored, are manufactured every year.

Step 1: Gather Supplies
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Before you can begin making your Christmas cane
reindeer you will first need to gather the following craft supplies (makes one Christmas cane reindeer):

1. A Christmas cane (can be any flavor)

2. One red pipe cleaner

3. One white pipe cleaner

4. Two googly eyes

5. A gemstone or other decorative item for the nose

Step 2: Attach Antlers
---------------------------------------------------------------------

First take your two pipe cleaners and twist together until they form a spiral pattern for the entire length. Hang your candy cane at the center of the two pipe cleaners and fold the two pipe cleaners around the candy cane. Place a drop of hot glue on the top of the candy cane and twist the pipe cleaners together over the hot glue. Step 3: Apply the Nose and Eyes

Use your hot glue gun to attach the googly eyes onto either side of the front of the candy cane. Attach the reindeer nose, using hot glue, to the front of the candy cane in the nose position. This is really cute but I think the antlers would look better if they were made out of brown pipe cleaners instead of the red and white. They would just pop more instead of blending in with the rest of the candy cane.
