Test photos and video at night.

The video was shot at 1080p at 60 fps, on the Intelligent Auto setting, with the Active SteadyShot selection.

The photos were shot from the Scene Selection mode, using the Hand-held Twilight option. They looked good right out of the camera, but I did tweak them with a very small boost in contrast and sharpness, but very little.

The music is by 38 Special, "So Caught Up In You".

  • Can I download the AVCHD videos onto my iMac? In some reviews, I read the person was unable to even download the videos. I don't have iMovie on my iMac. Not sure why not. I bought it used. However, I do have VLC player installed which will play almost any media file out there, so playing them is not an issue. Just that I should be able to download them. Thanks for posting!

  • @sreeramk I don't own a Mac, so I can only go by what I've read, but Final Cut Pro 6.0.1 is supposed to work with AVCHD files. Sorry I can't be of more help there, but that's a starting point, anyway.

  • @itsahellofaname Thanks. That's ok. If I can get the movies off the camera, that's good enough. I'm pretty sure I can play with the VLC player.

Other than that, do you feel the camera is slow on startup? Like some review said it takes like 7 seconds to get into a mode or something. Do you see that as a huge problem? Thanks again!

  • @sreeramk Well, I must have gotten the most special copy of this camera then, because mine is on in about two seconds. I don't know where anyone gets "startup takes seven seconds" from. I don't think it's a slow camera at all, but like any other camera it depends on how many settings you want to tweak. The more adjustments you're making, the longer it takes to get to them all, of course.

  • What is the video format that the cam delivers? It must most hopefully be .mp4. In this case how do you edit it in Window's moviemaker (given that .mp4 is not compatible with moviemaker)?

  • @akpipal

This camera shoots in AVCHD. For video compression, AVCHD uses the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (AVC) standard.

  • @MrE2727

    I've never used the Sony HX-1, so I can't give a comparison opinion.....sorry.

  • How does this camera compare to the Sony HX1 video?
